Longbow is built by The Interview Guys
Longbow is made by the team behind The Interview Guys, a career advice company Mike Simpson and Jeff Gillis founded in 2013 and have run ever since.
If you have searched for interview help in the last decade, you have probably read something we wrote. Our work has reached over 100 million job seekers. Our guides are cited in career centers at the University of Michigan, Georgetown, Penn State, Northeastern, Kansas State, Wellesley, the University of Toronto and McGill. Our advice has been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, CNBC, Inc., The Guardian, Wired, TechCrunch, MSN and ZDNet. Our report How To Give Perfect Interview Answers Every Time has been downloaded more than a million times, and our book, The Interview Master Guide, has sold over 50,000 copies without a distributor.
Longbow is what happens when you spend a decade writing that advice and then decide the advice is not enough.
Why we built it
Here is the problem with career advice, including ours. You can read the best article ever written about answering “tell me about a weakness” and still be sitting across from a hiring manager at 2pm on Thursday with no idea what to say about your weakness, for this job, at this company.
Advice is general. Interviews are specific.
We spent years closing that gap by hand, one reader at a time, and it does not scale. So we built the thing that does. You paste a job posting. Longbow reads it, researches the company, predicts the questions you are most likely to face, and coaches your answers using your actual background. The general becomes specific. That is the whole idea, and everything in Longbow is in service of it.
Who we are
Mike Simpson
Co-Founder & CEO
Mike holds a business degree from Bishop's University, majoring in Human Resources with a minor in Economics. He is a member of the Professional Association of Résumé Writers and Career Coaches and the National Career Development Association. He wrote the million-download interview report and co-wrote The Interview Master Guide. He is the voice behind most of what you have read from us.
Jeff Gillis
Co-Founder & CTO
Jeff comes from IT and digital strategy and built the systems that put our work in front of 100 million people. He has published over 50 case studies, guides and video courses, with work featured in Inc., MSN and ZDNet. He leads how Longbow is engineered.
What we are not
We are not a venture-funded startup that discovered job seekers last year. We are not an auto-apply service. We think firing off a hundred applications is how you get ignored by a hundred employers, so we built the opposite: a tool that helps you win the few that actually matter.
We also do not think software should replace your judgment. Robin, the coach inside Longbow, will not ghostwrite your interview answers. She will ask what actually happened, help you structure it, and push on the weak parts. The words stay yours, because in the interview you are the one who has to say them.
She will also tell you when you are off track
This is real feedback Robin gave a user who had applied to one role well outside their field:
“It is not clear whether this is a pivot, a fallback, or a misfire, but it raises a flag about whether your search strategy is focused or scattered under pressure.”
Most career software is built to encourage you. We think encouragement without honesty is just noise, and that the job of a coach is to say the thing a friend would not.

What we do with your data
We do not train AI models on your resume. Your career history is yours. You can download your account data as a file at any time from your account page, and deleting your account starts a real deletion, not a hidden archive.
